In todays rehearsal we worked towards Leentje’s advice, as well as polishing the piece for the first showing which also happened today.

New Picture (27) Morning Rehearsal:

In the morning rehearsal we spent time working through the ending again as well as weaving ‘FUN’ into the piece. We went through the scenes and slightly adjusted the tone and smiles in the scene to work with Leentje’s suggestion that we should be falsely in love with the audience. The morning rehearsal consisted of primarily little tweaks with the material.

Pre Show Rehearsal:

In this rehearsal we quickly went through the changes to the lights with Anna then went through a run of the show before the first show itself. We made a few slight changes, such as a song to introduce Chris etc, we realised after the first show that we did not leave enough time to build up this and feel truly confident in it, this was quite evident in the show I felt.

The Show:

The show overall went down well, our confidence wasn’t at its peak so this is something to work on for Friday but over all the piece was successful, we know we can make tweaks before Fridays showing however.

Notes from Leentje and Nancy:

To be more confident in what we were doing, it felt as though it was a little clunky just because we didn’t know what came next etc.

To reconsider the improvised ending, they think it is needed – take a risk, its ctp!

The piece needs a bit of danger.

Audience Response:

From what I had heard the audience enjoyed what they saw… what was most surprising was the impact that the song had upon people. Many people had it drilled into their heads and as you walked around the open space all you could hear were people singing ‘ba ba da ba da ba’. I found this very interesting and thought of it as a powerful thing if it was used well as it means that we as performers have stayed in their heads longer, much longer than the shows lasted as they will always have this tune in their heads which links them back to us. I am now in a dilemma however as I wish to give the improvised ending a go, but also wish to keep the song at the end in order to sustain this effect.
