Today was very relaxed which was nice, we spent time working through, and planning how the improvised section would work as well as running and gaining confidence in the piece.
Watching the Video:
At the beginning of rehearsals I went to the technicians to get the video of the performance from the day before. We then watched it back on the projector in the studio space and made notes. We realised the areas in which needed just a bit of tweaking or tightening up and made notes as to how this should be done. I also looked at my own roles and thought about how I could improve these moments in my own performance.
My Developments:
I worked on my text pieces for Green Scene and Magic scene. I felt in the showing yesterday that this was a particular area where I didn’t have the confidence needed. I wrote down everything I needed to say in this scene so that I could improvise around this confidently in the moment.
In a mess about I improvised a ‘Oscar award winning speech’ scene where I thanked my agent, my makeup artists and God for allowing me to perform here today. The others in the group liked it but suggested that I be more over the top with it and melodramatic (something I excel in 
) so I also worked on this in the break between rehearsals to make sure I was confident in this too.
Carmen’s Song:
Leentje and Nancy had suggested that we take away Carmens speech from the show as it no longer fitted, they said perhaps a song from Carmen should go in its place. Carmen and Pip worked on a Megamix of love songs to sing to the audience that Carmen would break into. Then we staged it, at first she performed it just standing in the spotlight but I said that maybe she should be singing it to individual audience members in a psychopathic manner, especially as the song erratically changes from song to song. One minute and upbeat song, next a melodic one, I said that Carmen should try and incorporate this into how she performs it.
The End Improvisation:
We worked on this for a bit, looking at the tone we should reach, how many people should be in the space at once etc. We also tried a number of different MCs to lead the preceding’s. After a couple of improvisations we were agreed on the tone and feel we wanted to create in this improvisation, we were to all take it seriously and confidently believing we were doing this better than anyone else.
Run Through:
In the evening we just ran through the show a couple more times to ensure we were all confident and energetic with it, no major changes were made, we all just worked upon little tweaks in this rehearsal.
